Tragedy struck on IOC Road in New Jalpaiguri late Thursday night as a cyclist, identified as Anil Gupta (35), lost his life in a collision with a lorry. Anil, a resident of Ward No. 35 in Siliguri Municipal Corporation, was on his usual route to work when the fatal incident occurred.
The impact of the lorry collision resulted in his immediate demise. Local authorities, including the NJP police station, responded swiftly upon receiving the information, recovering Anil Gupta's body from the scene. The body was then sent to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
Expressing concerns over recurring accidents on IOC Road, residents are alleging a lack of administrative action. If prompt measures are not taken, they warn of potential street protests in response to the perceived negligence.
